Our in-house production of membrane laminates for waterproof, breathable footwear is built on European supply structures. Trans-Textil develops and produces technically demanding and environmentally responsible functional textiles for safety shoes, outdoor shoes and shoes for public authorities at its site in Freilassing.
The multilayer laminates are centred around breathable moisture barriers. Trans-Textil draws on an extremely broad portfolio of time-proven Topaz membrane systems here – including numerous proprietary developments. With regard to PFAS-free garment systems, we have solutions on hand that are based on polyester (PES) and polyurethane (PU) with compact and microporous structures. We can also deploy ePTFE-based double-layered membrane systems in order to meet specifications from the areas of defence and PPE.
Components are chosen with an eye to the area of application and the technical target values. Our knowledge of practical and normative requirements, for instance in the area of work and safety shoes in accordance with DIN EN ISO 20345, informs such decisions. Alongside time-proven 3- and 4-layer structures, we are also able to accommodate custom developments thanks to a flexible concept which comprises processing technologies, membrane systems and textile components of various fibre types, weight categories and designs.
This gives our customers a huge amount of freedom in terms of product design, with a technical focus on abrasion resistance, mechanical strength and wear comfort. Besides polyester, polyamide and hybrid systems, we also offer, for instance, wovens, knits and nonwovens based on natural fibres besides a range of options for the intermediate layer from foam right over to fleece. Wherever a water-repellent finishing is required for shoe uppers, Trans-Textil relies on its proprietary Clean4Green® PFAS-free formulations.
With over 45 years of experience in textiles, a portfolio of tried-and-tested material compositions and countless innovations “Made in Germany” has emerged for different performance areas, from outdoor footwear to turnout boots for firefighters. We have also obtained the respective certificates from independent testing institutes for safety shoes and shoes to be worn by public authorities such as the police and the military.
Products are developed and tested in our own laboratories, while their manufacture, with the extremely precise and durable point-in-point lamination technology, coating, finishing and textile printing, takes place entirely at our Freilassing site in the region of Berchtesgaden. This ensures close-proximity collaboration, flexibility and speed, even for smaller production batches. Consideration has also been given to subsequent processing: Trans-Textil supplies the appropriate Topaz Tapes seam sealing tapes for shoe production.
We document our environmental commitment, which extends beyond the statutory requirements, by certifying our products according to the latest criteria of the Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 and obtaining certification in line with environmental standard ISO 14001, to name two examples. Thanks to our additional voluntary environmental initiatives, Trans-Textil has repeatedly been included in Bavarian Environmental and Climate Pact overseen by the Bavarian State Ministry of the Environment and Consumer Protection.
