State Minister Glauber honours years of voluntary services
Trans-Textil GmbH has actively supported the Bavarian State Government’s Environmental and Climate Pact since 2007. In honour of its continued, long-term dedication to the pact, the company was recently awarded the gold certificate by Environment Minister Thorsten Glauber.
“The environmental and climate pact is a success story that brings together economy and ecology,” Glauber underscored at the awards ceremony held in Fürth’s Sportpark Ronhof stadium. For the fifth time in a row, our team qualified for the state-run programme, having gone above and beyond the statutory requirements with its extensive, voluntary commitment to environmental and climate protection matters.
In addition to certifying our management system in line with the global environmental standard ISO 14001, we are consistently expanding our product portfolio with high quality and environmental standards in mind. In accordance with the international Oeko-Tex® standard, all our functional multi-layer products and production processes are tested and certified by independent institutes to ensure their safety from a human-ecological perspective. This includes, for instance, washable reusable solutions for medical devices, the use of recycled components, fluorine-free textile finishings and AQUAIR® – a breathable imitation leather based on an aqueous formulation. We cover all our power requirements with our in-house photovoltaic system besides drawing on energy from hydroelectric plants.
“Our location in the Bavarian town of Freilassing, right next to Berchtesgaden National Park, constantly motivates us to improve our company’s environmental performance – both here and wherever our products are used,” said Managing Director Wilhelm Krings. “This is made possible, above all, thanks to our strong partners and driven, qualified colleagues, who work towards this goal on a daily basis,” Krings explained. Our in-house department for substance management checks the environmental performance of all products and developments, while our trainees are on track to qualify as ‘energy and environment scouts’ with the support of the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Beyond this, the company places strong emphasis on resource and energy efficiency when making investment decisions. “The trusting cooperation with neighbours, regional authorities and networks forms an important basis of Berchtesgadener Land’s ‘Verantwortungsvoll Wirtschaften’ initiative for responsible business management”, Krings said.
At the awards ceremony, Environment Minister Thorsten Glauber also highlighted the potential found in regional commitment: “Bavaria is not only an important business location, but also a valuable location in terms of the environment. Environmental and climate protection is crucial to long-term business success and is seen as a future growth engine. Partners who have shown exceptional commitment over a number of years are honoured with the gold distinction as a way of acknowledging their exemplary dedication and thanking them. Together, we will tackle climate change.” October 2025 marked 30 years since the first environmental pact was signed. At present, a total of over 1,500 Bavarian companies and business institutions are party to the environmental and climate pact.
