High Performance Plus for PPE

Protection against microorganisms in personal protective equipment and workwear

The deployment scenarios faced by fire and rescue services are becoming ever more complex. Ensuring reliable safety against fluid-borne infectious agents therefore forms an essential part of the multifunctional protection concept in textile PPE and call-out gear – for example when treating a patient’s wound or being exposed to contaminated water as a result of increasingly common natural catastrophes.

Trans-Textil draws on decades of experience in the development and manufacture of functional membrane laminates to protect against contaminated, and specifically infectious, fluids in the area of surgical textiles.

Within the High Performance PLUS concept, this expertise is now also integrated into multi-layer products for personal protective equipment (PPE), workwear and protective public service clothing.

The stringent requirements of the multifunction concept apply in addition to the existing specifications for combined protection against wet weather according to EN 343, protective clothing for firefighters and heat-exposed work according to EN 469 / EN ISO 11612/ HuPF, high-visibility clothing (EN ISO 20471), antistatic clothing (EN 1149), protection against cold according to EN 342 and shoe laminates for safety shoes according to EN 344-1, EN 345, EN 347.

2 and 3-layer systems are available along with custom developments. The enhanced standard of performance is verified by tests according to international standards conducted at independent institutes.

Topaz High Performance PLUS multifunctional laminates are field-tested and certified, including for the professional reprocessing of reusable rental textiles in disinfection washing in line with the RKI standard as well as industrial washing in accordance with EN ISO 15797.

The Topaz Tapes developed specifically for the High Performance PLUS laminates provide reliable impermeability and protection even along seams.

The Topaz patching system for the High Performance PLUS laminates offers repair solutions that enable minor damage to membrane laminates arising from daily use to be reliably and impermeably repaired using suitable materials. The patches are washable, which makes for a customisable, flexible, high-quality and service-oriented solution tailored specifically to textile leasing and professional reprocessing.
